The Loved Ones - Breathe In
I’m building calluses where I’m supposed to feel. And I’m betting all that’s left on the chance there is something real.
I am having that night where I am absolutely certain that The Loved Ones are my favourite band. I can never describe how genius this band is. Keep Your Heart is easily one of the best records I have ever listened too, and it is crazy that is coming close to five years since I first heard it.
The Loved Ones - Chicken
“You’ve torn out what’s left of my faith in you and I guess I’m too old to pretend… You’re burning out…”
The Loved Ones - Pretty Good Year
This song. It is that time of year again. I just cannot describe this band with enough strength. All I ever want to do is watch them again.
“It’s been painful resolution set to jubilant applause. It’s been soaring highs and crushing lows and grinding in the jaw. It’s been begging for forgiveness after laying down the law. It’s been like surgery to get through all the flaws. Will this overture seem dull to all my friends? Will you love me if I leave you here again?”
The Loved Ones - Jane
It has been another one of those days when I have been listening to The Loved Ones on repeat. I cannot even fathom how much I love this band. In 2007 or so, this dude I was friends with played me a few songs off Keep Your Heart, and gave me a copy of the earlier EP, and I remember being so stoked on hearing 100K and Jane. I just have so many good memories regarding this band. At the 2009 Soundwave, I was absolutely bored during the day, and picked up a Rave or Time Off and read that The Loved Ones were coming out for the Bad Religion/Nofx tour later that year. Months later it didn’t even bother me that that changed to them coming out for the Strung Out tour the following year (2010). I remember wanting to leave straight after TLO because there was no point in sticking around to watch Strung Out. They were just really cool, you know, and so tight. I cannot find one flaw in any record, or a single bad song. Seeing Dave Hause do a few acoustic versions last year was great too; being in other cities, surrounded by good friends from other cities, arm in arm, singing along. Like I said, so many good memories. There’s not many bands that make me feel that way.
Well that was a nice little anecdote. See ya.
